A mild steel test piece was tested in tension and the following readings were obtained:

Diameter of specimen = 20mm

Length of specimen     = 20cm

Extension under 30kN load = 0.08mm

Load at yield point = 150kN

Maximum load = 225kN

Length of the specimen after fracture = 25cm

Calculate the values of (a) Young’s modulus (b) yield point stress (c) ultimate strength and (d) percentage elongation
