The resistance of a 100m length of copper conductor 1mm diameter, is 2.47Ω. Calculate the resistance of a cable 800m in length composed of 19 similar strands of conductor, but each 1.5mm diameter. Allow 5 per cent increase in length for the ‘lay’ (twist) of each strand of the completed cable.
